THE LATEST FROM JOOLZ...
October 2007

JOOLZ continues to thrive and the response has been much better than we ever hoped! We’re reordering constantly, and continue to add new artists. Space for all the wonderful new pieces is at a premium.

Here’s the latest:

Our hours are changing as of October 1st:
Closed Sunday and Monday
Open Tuesday – Saturday 10am – 5pm

Lampwork glass bead artist Kerry Bogert will be with us on Saturday, November 17th from 11am – 4 pm. Kerry will be bringing her torch and demonstrating her craft at JOOLZ, and we’ll also have a trunk show of her work that day. Kerry’s work is very popular at JOOLZ, and she’s been a hit at Corn Hill and the Clothesline Show too. Mark your calendars now!

We’re planning a Men’s Night on Wednesday, December 12th from 5-8pm. Ladies, come in ahead of time and put your favorite joolz on your Wish Lists. The men in your life will be assured that they are buying something you like, but they’ll still have the fun of choosing what to buy. And we’ll have gift wrapping, too!

We’ve received a new shipment of joolz from Toronto artist Lisa Ridout. Lisa’s work has been very popular, and her WOW!² bracelet has had many, many admirers. New to her line are her Chenille (caterpillar, in French) bracelet, earrings and necklace…outstanding pieces made of her handcrafted sterling silver chain and copper Swarovski crystals. You’ll love them!! We are the only US store carrying Lisa’s work, which has been featured on the Fine Living Channel’s “Room Service” with Sarah Richardson.

One of our new artists, Liz Brown (who heard about JOOLZ while exhibiting at the Clothesline Show), works with interesting stones and beads reflecting her love of the Cape Cod area. After we met and decided which of her pieces we’d have at JOOLZ, I learned that she is the granddaughter of my childhood pediatrician, Marsden Fox. The world keeps getting smaller and smaller.

I flew to JFK one day this month to meet Craig Hagstrom, a master goldsmith from Sequim, Washington. We had lunch at a nearby Applebee’s and Craig showed me his line of 14K white and yellow gold pieces that he constructs using gorgeous and brilliant gemstones. I ordered several bracelets, pendants and earrings from him, and they should be arriving in mid-October. Then I hopped back on a returning JetBlue flight to Rochester and was home 12 hours after I left. Does that qualify me as a jet-setting businesswoman?

Our daughter, Katie, is being married in Rochester on October 6th, and this MOB (Mother of the Bride) is working hard to get it all done in time. It’s been a fun and crazy last few months, and next we’ll be gearing up for the holidays. No rest for the weary…

We invite you all to come to Canandaigua and the Finger Lakes, view the gorgeous fall leaves, go on a wine tour and be sure to visit us at JOOLZ. Doesn’t get much better than that!
